Clean Water From A Well,
Leads to Living
Water in MBale
Carl Dawson
December 2005
While
in Mbale doing our follow-up visit, we asked to be taken to as many
churches as possible so that we could see the growth and encourage the
new believers and their pastors. We visited 6 or 7 churches that
morning. As we were driving to the last church we were to visit
before having to drive back to Kampala I began to recognize some of the
landmarks. This route looked remarkable like the one we had taken
to reach one of the locations where we had drilled a new bore hole water
well. Our car came to a stop near the very simple structure in the
photograph. I asked Pastor Chris, the chairman or the Mbale
Pastor's Fellowship, "What is this place? He told me that all of
the people inside this "brand new church" were formerly Muslims who had
given their lives to the Lord of our giving them a water well.
I
remembered when we were talking to the pastors about where to put the
water wells that they all said we should put them all in Muslim areas.
They said the Muslims would not permit them to come and share the
Gospel, but if we drilled new wells for these people they would invite
us to come and do a dedication ceremony. We would then have the
opportunity to tell them our motivation for giving them the well.
What an emotional moment it was to worship
with a group of people who now have an eternity with God because you
loved them enough to partner with EMM to provide them with clean
water!!! |
